This simple Cabbage & Carrot Slaw is a crunchy, tangy salad that adds a refreshing contrast to any Indian meal. The mustard seed tempering adds a nutty and slightly spicy flavor while boosting digestion. Light and fiber-rich, it supports detoxification and promotes gut health.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1 cup grated carrot
- 1 tablespoon oil (mustard or vegetable)
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1-2 dried red chilies (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds and dried red chilies. When the mustard seeds start to pop, remove from heat.
- In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and grated carrot.
- Pour the hot mustard seed oil over the veggies.
- Add lemon juice and salt, then toss well.
